Premier League Live: Spurs enter race for United's 25m Brazilian target reports

Tottenham have entered the race to sign Manchester United target Paulo Henrique Ganso, according to the Metro.

The Brazillian midfielder is reportedly moving up Sir Alex Ferguson’s priority list as Wesley Sneijder continues to snub a move to Manchester United.

Ferguson is desperate to find a good quality midfield signing to replace retiring Paul Scholes, and with Darren Fletcher falling ill again, the chase has stepped up to secure Ganso before other clubs compete with United and drive up the price.

But Tottenham are now reportedly coming into play and believe that Ganso can star alongside Luka Modric to take the London club into Champions League qualification once more.

Harry Redknapp has reportedly put the star at the top of his transfer wishlist, and with Tottenham yet to make a big move in the transfer market, apart from signing keeper Brad Friedel, the club could well be holding out for a player of Ganso’s caliber to take Spurs an extra step towards challenging Manchester United, Chelsea, Manchester City and cross-town rivals Arsenal.

Ganso has been touted by pundits in Brazil as the new Kaka, and is said to be worth around £25 million. United will be fighting Tottenham to the last bid for the star, suggesting that the Red Devils may indeed have the edge over their rivals in their pursuit of Ganso’s signature.
