Premier League Live: United 'speed up' contract talks with starlet striker reports

Manchester United starlet Javier Hernandez will be handed a substantial raise, taking the Mexico international’s weekly wage to £60,000, according to the Daily Star.

Hernandez starred in his first season in the Barclays Premier League, scoring 20 goals across all competitions, and equaling Ruud Van Nistelrooy’s goal scoring record in a debut season at United.

And now Sir Alex Ferguson is ready to reward Hernandez by offering the United striker a new deal, which he hopes will be agreed to be the start of next season. Ferguson was reportedly wanting to wait 6 months to discuss a new contract with Hernandez, but the manager is hoping to ‘speed up’ the talks to show the club’s intent to hold onto the striker.

While Ferguson has continually insisted that Hernandez will stay at Manchester United for the long-term future, clubs in Spain and Italy have still been connected to the starlet.

Hernandez says he wants to repay his faith to Manchester United, after moving to the club for what some would say was a bargain price of £6 million last summer. And Ferguson is reportedly hoping to turn that faith into a new contract, tying the striker to the club for as long as possible.

Hernandez has a reach that spans across South America, and Manchester United can see the marketing benefits of keeping the starlet at the club as well as for his amazing footballing skills.
