Premier League Live: Arsenal still chasing Ligue 1 sensation reports

Arsenal are still reportedly monitoring Lille playmaker Eden Hazard in their pursuit of summer reinforcements.

According to the Daily Star, the north London club remain hopeful of luring the 20-year-old to the Emirates Stadium as they look to bring in extra creativity during the transfer window.

Arsenal have already conducted business with Lille this summer, having secured the signing of Ivory Coast international Gervinho earlier in July.

Arsene Wenger is, however, intent to retain good relations with the Ligue 1 club, and has previously stated that Arsenal would not make an approach for Hazard until he was put on the market.

Any potential move for Hazard is also likely to hinge on the future of Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas, who is seemingly destined to finally rejoin Barcelona this summer.

However, Arsenal chairman Peter Hill-Wood claimed on Friday that he was beginning to run out of patience with the Catalan giants over their refusal to make an acceptable offer for Fabregas.

“The ball is in their court,” he said. “They have made one bid of around £26m and another rather tentative one.”
